Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by.

I’m very excited to be mentoring for my first year and I will be looking for an upper middle grade novel. I’m offering a full manuscript assessment and help with your synopsis and query letter too.

WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?

I love contemporary fantasy, contemporary, dystopian, magical realism, and low fantasy. I’m looking for own voices stories with diverse characters, a strong voice and great worldbuilding. I love anything weird like ALICE IN WONDERLAND. I enjoy books with heavier topics like A MONSTER CALLS, but I don’t mind a happy or funny story too.

Things I particularly like in books: a touch of the fantastical, strong friendships, complicated families, humour, clever twists and weirdness. If your story features any (or all!) of these things, please consider submitting to me.

I’m actively looking to mentor a Black writer or other POC writers, but I’m open to everyone.

Some of my favourite books: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Pig-Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson and more recently The Strangeworlds Travel Agency by L. D. Lapinski.

MY MENTORING STYLE

I like to give a combination of face-to-face and written feedback. Once you’ve received your first round of feedback from me, I would love to get on a phone/video call to discuss any changes, your thoughts and ideas.

I am very straightforward when it comes to feedback, but I love to give compliments too and highlight areas of strength. Depending on how much work your manuscript needs, we would work on the big plot and character stuff first, before moving onto line edits.
